Advisory Committee endorses $70.9 million FY27 budget
Advisory Committee · Meeting of February 20, 2026
SOUTHBOROUGH — Advisory Committee backs $70.9M FY27 budget amid 5.3 percent tax increase. Vice Chair Andrew Pfaff led the committee's unanimous recommendation for an operational budget totaling $70.9 million with a proposed tax-rate increase to $14.60 per $1,000 of assessed value, up from $14.36 in fiscal 2026. The increase stems from contractual commitments and annual salary raises averaging 3 percent cost-of-living adjustments plus 2 percent step increases.
Though the town received approximately $1 million in additional free cash this year, committee members acknowledge this is not expected to recur and that FY27 is the last fiscal year the town can avoid an override without securing additional revenue sources.
