Affordable Housing Trust backs 12.5 percent threshold on 55-plus bylaw

Southborough Affordable Housing Trust unanimously backs lower affordability threshold. The five-member board voted 5-0 to support a 12.5 percent requirement over the Planning Board's 16.67 percent proposal, with Ellen Marya citing financial feasibility concerns. The board also received State approval of its Housing Production Plan, and the Community Preservation Committee unanimously advanced the AHT's project with approximately $50,000 anticipated to transfer.
Al Hamilton agreed to reach out to a developer on an MBTA Communities Act project to increase affordability above the required 10 percent threshold.
