Board approves $2.2 million motor vehicle excise tax commitments

SOUTHBOROUGH — The Board of Assessors approves $2.2 million in motor vehicle excise tax commitments. Chairman Jeffrey Klein guided the board through unanimous approval of two excise tax commitments totaling $2,208,955.63, covering 10,427 vehicle tax bills for fiscal years 2025 and 2026. The board also unanimously approved renewal of its tax map maintenance contract with CAI Technologies at the same $2,700 annual cost.

In executive session, the board granted four property tax abatements amounting to $10,193.56 in tax relief while denying five real estate abatement requests.
