SOUTHBOROUGH — Cemetery panel approves expansion action plan with eight-to-ten-year capacity window. The Cemetery Expansion Committee, chaired by Robert Bezokas, approved an action plan at its June 18 meeting to identify and evaluate land for cemetery expansion. Committee Vice Chair Kyle DeCubellis compiled usage data showing that 458 available plots at the town's two cemeteries will be exhausted between 2033 and 2035 based on current license rates of approximately 58 per year.

The Middle Road Cemetery's 4.7 acres includes only 2 acres usable for burial due to regulatory and environmental constraints. The committee plans to present its recommendations to the Select Board and DPW, and will invite Town Assessor Paul Cibelli to present candidate sites at its July 2 meeting.
