SOUTHBOROUGH — Capital committee reviews $18.9M in departmental requests, sets fiscal framework. Chair Jason Malinowski and the Southborough Capital Improvement and Planning Committee reviewed all town departments' capital needs and established a preliminary $1.8 million target for FY27 cash appropriations, with the remainder financed through bonding. Schools reported rising costs and prioritized security improvements over classroom technology.
Police requested four cruisers instead of the typical two, which the committee supported given department growth. The committee will present refined recommendations to the Select Board on January 13.
