Southborough Plans Polar Park Town Takeover for Wednesday
SOUTHBOROUGH — Southborough officials flagged two items for residents' attention this week: a road closure tied to the regional I-495/I-90 interchange project and a warning about a scam email targeting permit applicants, according to notices posted to the town's website.
TOWN HALL
The town's News & Spotlights feed confirmed that Flanders Road closed for a detour on July 18 as part of the ongoing I-495/I-90 Interchange Improvements Project, a regional effort that has periodically affected local roadways. Drivers in the area should expect to follow posted detour routes until the closure lifts.
Separately, the town posted an alert warning residents about a permit-related email scam circulating in the area, urging anyone contacted about permits to verify the request directly with Town Hall before responding or providing information.
The Conservation Commission also announced changes to its summer meeting schedule, though specific new dates were not detailed in the town's posting.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
Southborough is rallying behind the Worcester Red Sox this week. The town is organizing a "Town Takeover" at Polar Park on Wednesday, July 22, at 6:45 p.m., encouraging residents to turn out and cheer on the hometown crowd against Northborough, Westborough and defending champion Marlborough. Tickets purchased through the town's promotion will direct $5 of each sale to the Southborough Scholarship Fund.
COMING UP
Several town boards meet in the coming week: the Library Board of Trustees, Southborough Housing Authority and Affordable Housing Trust are all scheduled to meet Monday, July 20, followed by the Community Preservation Committee on Tuesday, July 21. The Polar Park Town Takeover follows Wednesday, July 22, at 6:45 p.m.
