SOUTHBOROUGH — Historical Commission rejects historic significance for two Demolition Delay properties. Chair Kevin Miller led the vote to deny significance for the circa-1890 Tyler House at 173 Southville Road, approved 0 for, 4 against, citing heavy alterations and structural damage that left no distinguishing features. A second motion on the Charles Newton II House garage at 15 Lyman Street failed 1 to 3, with Vice Chair Grant Farrington alone supporting significance; homeowner Kelly Seibler proposes replacing the structure with a cedar-shake two-car garage matching the 1901 main house.
The commission advanced its Historic House Sign Program to 34 Main Street, reported recovery of archive files from the Flagg School cleanout and transfer to Fire Chief Puntini, and noted a $5,000 grant secured for Rural Cemetery Water Tower study.
