Library Board approves $4,000 materials budget reduction for FY27.
Library Board of Trustees · Meeting of February 9, 2026
SOUTHBOROUGH — Library Board of Trustees unanimously trims FY27 budget by $4,000. The materials reduction, supported by Director Ryan Donovan and all six trustees, responds to Advisory Committee concern about increases in materials, professional development, and programs. Donovan noted the Hoopla subscription jump from $4,200 to $12,000 annually, and that Friends of the Library contributions toward museum passes (roughly $4,000 annually) can be counted toward state materials requirements.
The board approved purchase of two $130 square tables for the popular Mah Jongg program from donations. FY26 spending is on track; the library has received five of eight replacement tables ordered.
