Library Board delays FY27 budget vote pending requested cuts review

SOUTHBOROUGH — Library Board of Trustees hears $756,701 FY27 budget request but delays vote. Director Ryan Donovan presented a 9.6 percent increase over FY26, with materials and educational supplies at $120,475 to meet state mandates for communities over 10,000 residents. Programming expenses are slated to rise 109.6 percent to $11,945 and professional development 166.1 percent to $3,127, replacing state grants and charitable funding.
After questions about programming and professional development, the board asked Donovan to review a $15,000 reduction proposal and indicated it would require a new vote if the budget changes.
