Select Board approves water rate increase, Pizzaville license at February meeting
Select Board · Meeting of February 24, 2026
SOUTHBOROUGH — Select Board approves FY27 water rates with 12.6 percent base charge hike. The board voted 4-1 to adopt the rate increase recommended by consultant Matt Abrahams, citing the self-sufficient Water Enterprise Fund model and expiring agreement with the Massachusetts Water Resource Authority. Tim Fling opposed the motion.
DPW Superintendent William Cundiff disclosed that approximately $400,000 to $600,000 worth of equipment will no longer be serviced due to age. The Board also unanimously approved a Common Victualer license for new owners Mukesh Patel and Sinan Soguksu at Pizzaville, discussed FY27 budget deliberations amid a projected 6.4 percent tax increase, and prepared for the March 2 Special Town Meeting.
