Select Board · Meeting of January 13, 2026

SOUTHBOROUGH — Select Board reviews $2.1M capital plan with pressure on roads and schools. The Capital Improvement and Planning Committee presented an FY27 capital update requesting $1.7 million in appropriations and $429,473 in new debt, with major items including a Trottier School roof at $5.35 million after state aid, school technology upgrades at $1.4 million, road maintenance at $2.25 million, and sidewalk construction at $2.745 million. Members Kathryn M.

Cook and Al Hamilton advocated for a comprehensive road repair program bonded at approximately $20 million, while DPW Superintendent Bill Cundiff stated that total road repairs would cost $15 to $25 million and sought flexibility for annual prioritization. Member Andrew Pfaff raised concerns about capital budget size and its effect on levy capacity, suggesting debt exclusions may be necessary.
