Southborough Warns Of Permit-Related Email Scam

SOUTHBOROUGH — Town officials this week flagged an email scam targeting building-permit applicants and announced a detour tied to the Interstate 495/Interstate 90 interchange project, while also shifting a board's summer meeting schedule and promoting two upcoming community events.

The town issued a public alert warning residents of a scam involving fraudulent emails related to building-permit applications, urging anyone who receives a suspicious permit-related message to verify it directly with Town Hall before responding or submitting payment.

Southborough also announced a closure and detour on Flanders Road beginning July 18, tied to the ongoing Interstate 495/Interstate 90 interchange improvements project.

The Conservation Commission separately announced changes to its summer meeting schedule. The town also promoted an upcoming webinar on the invasive spotted lanternfly, scheduled for August 12, and publicized a "Town Takeover" night at Worcester Red Sox's Polar Park on July 22, with $5 from every ticket purchased benefiting the Southborough Scholarship Fund.
