Zoning Board of Appeals grants variance for covered front porch at 12 Darlene Drive.
Southborough Zoning Board of Appeals · Meeting of March 18, 2026
Southborough Zoning Board of Appeals unanimously approved a variance for a covered front-porch addition at 12 Darlene Drive. Applicant Jason Kurtz, architect for homeowner Stephanie Iodice, sought relief from the 30-foot front-setback requirement, proposing a structure 28.7 feet from the property line—a 1.5-foot encroachment justified by an existing Shell Oil easement that constrained the home's original siting. Chair David Williams noted the Board received neighbor support letters and found the addition consistent with neighborhood character.
The Board also continued two additional hearings to April 15: a special permit application from Erasmo Barroso for 34 Turnpike Road, pending incomplete septic as-built documentation, and a comprehensive permit from FD 250 Turnpike LLC for 250 Turnpike Road/0 Parkerville Road, with peer review of updated plans underway.
