Southborough schools accept $2.8 million low bid for Neary roof

School Committee · Meeting of June 10, 2026

Southborough School Committee honors 10 retirees, advances $2.8 million Neary roof bid and a four-year tech lease. Superintendent Gregory Martineau praised the retiring group's "over 200 years of experience," including longtime Finn School Principal Clayton Ryan. The committee heard that its Elementary Building Committee, chaired by Craig, executed a $165,000 design contract the same day but faced questions over a monthlong gap in meetings and thin district involvement ahead of a planned fall 2026 Special Town Meeting vote.

Members approved a four-year, roughly $20,000-a-year technology lease to replace about 105 aging staff devices, and accepted Neary roof bids totaling $2.8 million, well under a prior $4.5 million estimate, with construction targeted to start in late June. The board also voted 5-0 to approve May warrants and payrolls and unanimously accepted its FY26 financial report showing a $147,000 available balance.
