Southborough's Select Board voted down a Stewardship Committee bid for an extra $100,000 in Breakneck Hill restoration funding ahead of Special Town Meeting. Chair Kathryn Cook said the town has already borrowed $3.6 million of a $4.327 million cleanup authorization, with $176,000 still available for restoration; members Sam Stivers, Tim Fling, Andrew Dennington and Andrew Pfaff each declined to support preserving more. Stewardship Chair Joyce Greenleaf countered, "If we don't ask, we know the answer is no." Separately, consultant Bill Keegan of Capital Strategic Solutions briefed the board on its governance structure study, with a final report due before Christmas.

The board also approved a $161,545 contract with Door Systems Inc. for DPW overhead door replacement and accepted $86,857.14 in FEMA fire-hose grant funding and a $1.1 million MassWorks grant for the Southville Road water main.
